Ammar AlShukry is an imam and resident scholar of River Oaks Islamic Center in Houston, Texas. Originally from Sudan by way of Queens, New York, he began studying Arabic in Sudan at an early age and holds dual bachelor's degrees in Islamic Studies and Marketing. He is the author of the poetry collection What the Pen Wrote.
